Accredited Specialist Criminal Law
Simon has been practising as a lawyer in the Sutherland Shire since 2006. Prior to this he worked in the Local Court at Sutherland as a court officer and clerical officer while completing his legal studies.
During this time he has represented hundreds of clients in criminal proceedings before the Local Court of NSW and the Children’s Court of NSW, and has also acted for clients in relation to trial, sentence, and appeal proceedings before the District Court of NSW, Supreme Court of NSW, the NSW Court of Appeal, NSW court of Criminal Appeal and the High Court of Australia. Simon does most of his work as a solicitor-advocate and appears in most matters without the need to brief a barrister.
In October 2011 Simon’s experience and expertise in the field of criminal law was recognised when the Law Society of NSW granted him the status of an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law, the conferring of which follows an arduous process of assessment, and the maintaining of which requires ongoing annual study in the field of criminal law, in addition to and beyond that required of non-specialist lawyers. Simon remains an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law to this day. Further details of the rigorous criteria attached to this qualification can be found here: http://www.lawsociety.com.au/community/findingalawyer/SpecialistAccreditationScheme/index.htm
In addition to his extensive experience in the practise of criminal law, Simon is also experienced in and able to assist you with other areas of law, including traffic law, licence appeals, apprehended violence orders, firearms offences, mental health law, children’s offences, commercial litigation, general litigation, wills and probate.
